Known for his triangular theory of love and his triarchic theory of intelligence, this one-time President of the American Psychological Association contributed greatly to the fields of psychology and psychometrics. He taught at Cornell University, Oklahoma State University, and Yale University, among other institutions of higher learning. He and Jerome Bruner both made significant contributions to the field of cognitive psychology. As a child, he struggled with test-taking anxiety, an issue that spurred his interest in psychology and intelligence and aptitude testing. He later earned degrees in psychology from Yale University and Stanford University.
