In the sixth round of the 1989 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions selected Rodney 141st overall. He suffered an injury in the final exhibition game against the Los Angeles Rams and was sidelined for the first game of the regular season. In his first season, he had 8 starts, 1,479 yards, and 5 passing touchdowns. With the Lions, Rodney played for five seasons. He joined the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent on May 3, 1994.
Peete only spent one season on the Cowboys’ roster. Rodney later spent four seasons as an Eagle for the Philadelphia team. He was dealt to the Washington Redskins on April 28, 1999, for a choice in the 2000 sixth round. Peete only spent one season as a Redskins player.
