Roger Goodell is an American citizen with a completely white ethnic background. According to sources, Roger is the only non-Jewish commissioner among the eight selected thus far. In 2013, ten members of Congress urged Goodell to consider changing the name of Washington’s football team, the “Redskins.” Goodell defended the team name, claiming it is “a unifying force that stands for strength, courage, pride, and respect.” However, they did not respond kindly to his remarks, resulting in increased antagonism.
Congress stated that other owners were attempting to justify a racist slur to increase revenues. They said,” They deserve to be treated with respect and dignity, not as a demeaning caricature or mascot.” The members brought the matter to court, but no agreement was reached, and Roger was no longer participating.
Roger Goodell’s Family: Parents, Wife, and Children
Roger Goodell was born in Jamestown, New York, on February 19, 1959. His father, Charles Ellsworth Goodell, was a US Senator from New York, and his mother, Jean (Rice) Goodell, was from Buffalo, NY. Goodell’s early academic and athletic achievements highlighted his exceptional ability. He attended Bronxville High School, where he excelled academically and participated in three sports: football, basketball, and baseball.
His leadership talents were evident as he led all three teams during his senior year and was named the school’s athlete of the year. Despite his great football ability, injuries prevented Goodell from extending his collegiate career. Roger married Jane Skinner, a former Fox News Channel anchor. Jane was born on February 12, 1967, to Samuel K. Skinner and Susan Ann Thomas.
Skinner started her career as a political journalist at KBJR in Duluth, Minnesota. She went on to work as a general correspondent for Fox News after leaving WNBC-TV in New York City in 2010. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell married Jane Skinner on October 25, 1995. The couple has twin children. They were born in 2001.
