On Monday, December 19, shortly before 1 a.m., the first violent event happened. James Cunningham, a male victim, was discovered with a 10-inch slash cut across his neck at 214 Avenue A, between 13th and 14th streets.

After a short talk, he was alleged to be leaving a pub when a guy came and assaulted him. Police think the contact was unplanned and random. According to police, a guy walked behind Teddy’s Bar at 2271 2nd Ave. and began choking a 29-year-old female employee with a baseball bat.

When two customers intervened, the perpetrator attacked them with a huge knife. Fortunately, all three victims of the incident survived. According to the NYPD, the culprit had been in the tavern about a week prior and felt “disrespected” by the personnel.

Then, about 2:15 a.m. on Friday, December 23, the same individual allegedly entered Marcus Garvey Park, where he encountered a 60-year-old doctor named Bruce Maurice Henry who was strolling around the park.

According to the NYPD, the two had a brief talk before the assailant grew enraged and repeatedly stabbed Henry in the body, eye, and hands.Officers discovered Henry’s corpse in the park later. They also discovered that Henry’s 2021 blue Mercedes Benz automobile had been taken as a result of the incident.

On December 24, about 9:40 p.m., detectives stopped the stolen car between 166th St. and Jerome Ave. in the Bronx. Codrington, who was driving the automobile, surrendered without a fight. “The apprehension was made by three sharp-eyed officers from the 30th Precinct,” stated NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell.

“It was just a great plan on Christmas Eve when everyone else was out shopping; we were still working,” Chell remarked, relieved that the case was finally closed.
