Several incidents in Manhattan left two people dead and numerous others injured.

The first violent event happened on December 19 soon before one in the morning. James Cunningham, a male victim, was discovered with a 10-inch neck cut before 214 Avenue A, between 13th and 14th streets.

He allegedly had a brief interaction with a man before he was attacked as he was leaving a bar. Police are of the opinion that it was a chance meeting.

On December 22, around 11:30 p.m., a second attack took place. According to police, a man entered Teddy’s Bar at 2271 2nd Ave. and began choking a female employee there, 29, with a baseball bat.

The attacker stabbed two people who tried to step in with a big knife. Thankfully, the attack’s three victims all made it out alive.

The culprit had visited the bar about a week before and, according to the NYPD, felt “disrespected” by the staff.

A 60-year-old doctor named Bruce Maurice Henry was apparently going through Marcus Garvey Park when the same individual reportedly entered the park at 2:15 in the morning on Friday, December 23.

Following a brief debate between the two, the attacker allegedly became enraged and repeatedly stabbed Henry in the torso, eye, and hands.

Later, police discovered Henry’s body in the park. They also discovered that Henry’s blue 2021 Mercedes Benz was stolen after the assault.

On December 24, at about 9:40 p.m., investigators stopped the stolen car in the Bronx near 166th St. and Jerome Ave.

While operating the vehicle, Codrington gave up without a fight. According to NYPD Chief of Patrol John Chell, “The apprehension was made by three keen-eyed officers with the 30th Precinct.”

Chell noted with pleasure that the matter was closed, “It was just a great plan on Christmas Eve when everyone was out shopping; we were still working.”
