Barr became a mother for the first time at the age of 18 in 1971. She had a daughter named Brandi Brown, who was later adopted by another family because she was not ready for parenthood at the time.
Three years later, in 1974, the actress married her first husband, Bill Pentland. In 1975, a year after their wedding, the couple welcomed their first child together, daughter Jessica.
Barr’s family grew in the following years, with the births of daughter Jennifer in 1976 and son Jake in 1978.
Barr and Pentland raised their children together for over a decade until their divorce in 1990.
The same year after their divorce, Barr began dating Tom Arnold. They did not have any children together, however, and divorced in 1994.
Barr married her third husband, Ben Thomas, in 1995. They chose IVF in November 1994 and welcomed their only child, son Buck, in 1995.
Barr divorced Thomas in 2002, and she began dating Johnny Argent in 2003.

Despite the fact that Barr’s oldest child, Brandi, had been adopted by another family, the two reconnected in 1988. In 1989, she told People about the incident.
Barr revealed that she had left information for Brandi to locate her when she turned 21. Brandi’s only knowledge of her mother at the time was that she was famous.
However, a tabloid discovered Barr had a daughter out of wedlock and contacted her about it.
“I panicked and hired a private detective to find her [Brandi] rather than have her read about me being her mother in a tabloid,” Barr explained. “Which is filthy and shady.”
When asked how their reunion went, Barr said the two hit it off right away.
“I turned around and felt a strong magnet. We exchanged glances. “Brandi jumped out of her seat, and we ran toward each other,” she recalled.
“We hugged and cried and wouldn’t let go of each other.”

Barr’s children have all grown up, and some have started their own families. On Instagram, she frequently posts about her family.
In November 2021, she posted a photo of herself with six of her grandchildren.
“Fun with a few grandchildren,” she captioned the photo.
In April of the same year, the Roseanne star took to Instagram to share a photo of her new granddaughter.
A few days later, she wrote another post about her son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter.
