This week, Netflix will release Royalteen, a new film. Royalteen is a Norwegian film directed by Emilie Beck and Per-Olav Srensen about a teen romance that follows prince Karl Johan (Mathias Storhi) and newcomer Lena (Ines Hysaeter Asserson) as they navigate the tricky world of love and class difference.
The film will be released in theaters worldwide on August 17, 2022. Though Netflix has not officially announced the release date, movies on Netflix in the United States typically debut around 3 a.m. EST. Ester Grenersen’s screenplay is based on Randi Fuglehaug and Anne Gunn Halvorsen’s best-selling novel Arvingen. Janne Hjeltnes of The Global Ensemble Drama created the show.
Royalteen promo: Forbidden love and deeper relationships
Royalteen’s plot revolves around the growing romance between the main heroine Lena and future king Karl Johan, a high-class socialite from the bustling media world. The two main characters in the show come from very different cultures and have very different personalities, which creates latent tension in many situations.
Karl enters the school in the teaser for Royalteen, attracting the attention of everyone in the room. He walks in and takes a seat next to Lena, the school’s new student. They start a conversation that quickly turns lively and amusing. Clearly, there is some romantic tension in the air.
The official synopsis for the film is as follows, according to Daily Research Plot:
“Lena is well aware that seeing and bonding with the heir to the kingdom may put them both in an untenable position, and she hasn’t told Kalle or anyone else about her even bigger secret, which is also why she has drifted away from her nation. Will her huge secret cause a major problem, or will we see a happy ending for a prince and a commoner?”
The problem with Karl and Lena’s relationship is self-evident. Being from two different worlds, the two of them will find it difficult to maintain a relationship, especially if they have to consider the future. Apart from their social differences, prince Karl Johan is frequently the subject of controversies and online debates.
Unbeknownst to the crown prince, Lena is a voracious writer who has been writing about him on her blog. Prince Karl is also unaware that simple Lena has her own set of secrets. The film also stars Veslemy Mrkrid, Sunniva Lind Hilund, Petter Width Kristiansen, Filip Bargee Ramberg, Martin Grid Toennesen, Elli Rhiannon Müller Osborne, Christian Ruud Kallum, Amalie Sporsheim, Pl Richard Lunderby, Carmen Andrea Hilund, and Vr Srensen Grnlie.
Netflix will release Royalteen on August 17, 2022. Though no official date has been set, the film is expected to premiere around 12 a.m. PT or 3 a.m. EST. The film’s official broadcast time will vary depending on the time zones in each location.
