Even the film’s director, Rajamouli, was adamant about distinguishing RRR as a Telugu film rather than a Bollywood film. During an interview with a journalist after the film’s showing at the Directors Guild of America, he stated unequivocally that RRR “is not a Bollywood film, it is a Telugu film from the south of India, where I come from.”
