Meredith was also named New England Coach of the Year by the New England Soccer Journal in 2017. Lorelei Wall, Yale’s first Ivy League Rookie of the Year in 1996, Crysti Howser, Ivy League Rookie of the Year in 2005, Christina Huang, Becky Brown, Kristen Forster, Melissa Gavin, and several others were among those he coached.

Rudy Meredith’s Wife and Children

Rudy Meredith married Eva Bergsten Meredith many years ago. Eva is a Swedish national who was born in Nyhammar, a small town near Stockholm. While it remains a mystery as to how they met in the first place, they have stories to tell.

Rudy decided to trade in his whistle for cleats after meeting his wife Eva, and he took the opportunity to play for a fourth-division team. Eva was an assistant soccer coach at the University of Hartford at the time. She was a university coach for six years. Rudy mentioned,

“After we met, I went to Sweden with her and realized as a soccer player that I had been robbed of my soccer experience growing up in America,” she says.

Eva encouraged Rudy to play and suggested he look into the local team. However, things did not go as planned.

She was also the head coach of Wesleyan’s soccer team. In 2020, Eva will begin her 17th season. As a player, she was a member of Sweden’s National Team from 1989 to 1991. She was also a premier league player from 1986 to 1992.

Update on Rudy Meredith, Operation Varsity Blues

Rudy Meredith became involved in Operation Varsity Blues after attempting to profit from his position at Yale University. According to a court document, he received $860,000 in bribes from Rick Singer.

After being apprehended by the FBI, he cooperated with the investigation team. In March of 2019, he pled guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and honest service fraud. In May of 2018, he agreed to forfeit all of the bribes he accepted and handed over $300,000 to the FBI.
