Saint X, Hulu’s next thriller series, is set to debut on April 26, 2023, at 12 a.m. ET. Alison, a young girl, goes missing while on vacation with her family on the Caribbean island of Saint X.
The series addresses issues of privilege, racism, and justice as Alison’s family deals with the aftermath of her death. Saint X, based on Alexis Schaitkin’s novel, is expected to resurrect the age-old debate over whether a TV series triumphs over its source novella. Interestingly, many people have compared Saint X to The White Lotus, which premiered on HBO in 2021.

Saint X’s trailer shows the Thomas family touring their resort on Saint X, a fictitious Caribbean island. During their visit, their oldest daughter, Alison, strikes up an unusual friendship with two resort lads, Clive and Edwin. Alison goes missing after attending a social function at their resort on the last night of their trip. Following the discovery of her body, two men, Clive and Edwin, are charged with her murder.
The police quickly ruled the death an accident due to a lack of evidence. However, Emily Thomas, now an adult, is determined to discover what happened to her sister, Alison, on the island after many years of seemingly unresolved death. This trailer makes us question the entire concept and forces us to form our own assumptions. According to the trailer’s description on Hulu:
“Through multiple timelines, the series explores how a young woman’s mysterious death during an idyllic Caribbean vacation creates a traumatic ripple effect that eventually pulls her surviving sister into a dangerous pursuit of the truth.”
Saint X is set to debut on Hulu on April 26, 2023. The first three episodes will be released concurrently, with subsequent episodes following every Wednesday. On May 31, 2023, the final episode of the eight-part series will air. On June 7, 2023, Saint X will be released on the Disney platform in the United Kingdom.
Saint X plot: Book vs. Series
Saint X, Alexis Schaitkin’s best-selling novel, is full of unexpected twists in the investigation that keep the reader interested. The novel’s unsettling effect stays with the reader long after the final page is turned, leaving a lasting impression.
The difference between the trailer and the book is that in the novel, Emily, who is portrayed as Alison’s sister in the series, is a doctoral student who becomes enthralled by Alison’s story. Alison is referred to as Claire in the novel, while her younger sister is referred to as Alison. Individual identities may be changed, but Saint X director Dee Rees has ensured that the story remains comparable, if not identical.
