During the documentary series, Salo Luna Garrido—a Chilean who resided at Colonia Dignidad—spoke about his experiences. The Survivor of Dignidad has not disclosed his age. Salo Luna was about eight years old when he came to Colonia Dignidad. He said that he first felt like he was in heaven and that he had learned a lot there. Salo stated that at the time he was a member of the Youth’s Permanent Vigil. After he started speaking up for young people in Chile, he had regular interactions with Paul.
But Salo found out the terrible reality about Colonia Dignidad very quickly. In the documentary, Salo called the place a “cradle of horrors.” Moreover, he had said at first that Paul had been friendly. Salo added, nevertheless, that it eventually turned into an obsession, so Paul talked to Salo’s mother about their move into the colony.
Luna even made the offer to build a home. Being named a “sprinter” was Colonia Dignidad’s highest accolade for boys. Whenever Paul went, he would take these sprinters along to assist him with his daily tasks.
Where Is Salo Luna Now?
After all, Salo returned from Germany, but not before threatening to have people come to his street and label him a traitor. Luckily, his neighbors helped to defend him and were encouraging. Salo said that once Paul was imprisoned in 2005, he was happy and content. Luna works in a municipal office and resides in San Fabian, Chile, so it seems like he’s doing well these days. He claimed to still be in communication with a number of colonists during the program.
Salo ran away when he was about 18 and got in touch with his friend Tobias Müller, who is 24 years old. The show claims that Tobias told Salo that Paul had battered and sexually assaulted him. They decided to leave on the day of the 36th anniversary festivities. After racing to Salo’s place, they found themselves in the German ambassador’s flat and were subsequently granted entry into Germany. Over there, Tobias filed a report about Paul.
When this happened in 1997, some thought Paul might be hiding somewhere on the property. Tobias was expected to be acquainted with the location. He currently works in a municipal office, providing a testament to his perseverance and dedication to overcome the hardships of Colonia Dignidad.
