Sam Darnold Health Update | What Happened To Him | Does He Have Schizophrenia?

Sam Darnold

Some teased Darnold after his “seeing ghost” statement, while others wondered, “Does Sam Darnold have schizophrenia?” Is Sam afflicted with a mental illness?

On national television, Sam Darnold told the audience that he was “seeing ghosts” on the field. Sam’s single statement went viral. Sam Darnold, aka Samuel Richard Darnold, was born in Dana Point, California on June 5, 1997. He is a National Football League (NFL) quarterback who is currently committed to the San Francisco 49ers.

Richard was taken third overall by the New York Jets in the 2018 NFL Draft. In addition, at the age of 21, he became the NFL’s youngest opening-day starter since the AFL-NFL merger. As the inaugural freshman at the University of Southern California, he received the Archie Griffin Award. In addition, in 2016, he was voted Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year, and in 2017, he was named First-Team All-Pac-12.

Is Sam Darnold Suffering From Schizophrenia?

Most football fans are concerned about Samuel Darnold’s mental health and wonder if he has schizophrenia. The question of schizophrenia came up when Sam described seeing the ghost in the field. Darnold had his worst game as a pro, committing five turnovers. After his third blunder in the second quarter, he dashed to the bench and exclaimed, “I’m seeing ghosts.” That video rapidly became popular.

Furthermore, most people believed he made up the explanation to get out of that situation. After the game, the fans commented on how nicely he handled it, and he told the reporters that he always tries to be honest with his coaches. In addition, he told the media that he needs to “see the field a lot better” to face New England’s blitz-heavy defense.

“That’s exactly what it is. Worse has happened to me. On the other hand, it’s unfortunate that it was live. It’s a much more common term than it’s given credit for.” Sam stated.

So there is no sign that he has schizophrenia following this remark. As a result, we cannot conclude that he suffers from mental illness just based on this statement.

Sam Darnold Affected with Kissing Disease

Mononucleosis was diagnosed in Sam Darnold. During that time, he had to take a three-week break from the games. Darnold made his return from injury against the Cowboys and gave one of the best performances of his brief career. Furthermore, in an ESPN interview, the quarterback admitted that he initially interpreted the prognosis as a joke when it was offered by head coach Adam Gase.

“When they told me I had mono, I burst out laughing.” I thought they were joking. And that was no laughing matter.” Darnold mentioned it.

Furthermore, while mononucleosis is commonly referred to as “the kissing disease,” the athlete assumed it was not a disease that would easily infect adults. It was, however, not a joke.

Fortunately, Sam recovered swiftly from his illness and was able to return to the game. He also stated that Darnold was just sick for three to four days, but the team and coach insisted on him resting for three weeks for his safety.
