The former baseball player is happily married to Samantha Montoyo, as was already mentioned. The two met in Charleston, South Carolina, in 1999. At the time, Charlie was the River Dogs’ manager.
When Samantha first met her future husband, she was seeing someone else. She was also terrified of the style of life that baseball-related males led. After Charlie left for a year in 1999, they grew close and started dating when he came back in 2000.
The charming pair said their vows to one another in 2001. Their relationship is still going strong after more than 20 years of marriage.
The Montoyos have a loving marriage and two exceptional sons. Only two years had passed since their wedding before they had children. Tyson Montoyo, Charlie Montoyo’s first child, was born in the early 2000s. Their youngest son, Alex Montoyo, was born in October 2007.
The Montoyo family loves to watch baseball games, and they usually support the manager’s squad.
The boys of Charlie Montoyo must also have grown to love baseball. The eldest, Montoyo, will graduate from Hendrix College in 2025. He participates actively in the lacrosse team at his institution as a student-athlete. Alex, though, is still a teenager and seems to be doing alright.
Their Young Son Underwent Open Heart Surgery
The oldest son of the manager of the Toronto Blue Jays was a healthy baby who enjoyed playing with everything he wanted as a child. Alexander Montoyo, his younger child, was born with Ebstein’s anomaly, a serious cardiac condition in which one of the heart’s valves is malfunctioning.
According to the manager and his family’s documentary DVD, Charlie’s oldest child had to grow up quickly after Alex’s diagnosis. Tyson is a loving elder sibling who looks out for and defends his little sibling.
According to a 2019 ESPN report, Alex had two open heart operations before he turned a year old. He underwent his most recent operation in 2012. The Montoyos were also informed that their baby son had a poor chance of survival.
But Alex defied all odds and is currently a healthy adolescent. His parents love and care enabled him to succeed despite the obstacles in his way.
The youngster also likes to watch baseball games. He always sports a cheerful expression on his face. It must have been challenging for Samantha and her husband as well. Hopefully, they solidified into a rock for each other when things became tough.
In general, Charlie Montoyo’s wife is a loving and devoted spouse. She and her spouse did a great job of raising their kids. Samantha has a happy and peaceful future in front of her.
