Sarah Jakes is a motivational speaker and self-help author best known for her books Lost & Found, Dear Mary, and Colliding With Destiny.

Following the success of these works, she appeared as a guest on Dr. Phil (2002), Exhale (2013), and Today (2014).

Aside from inspiring others via her memoirs, Sarah is the founder of Woman Evolve, a ministry that has guided people to awakening, healing, wholeness, and love for themselves.

Sarah Jakes Robert was born on July 17, 1988, in Texas, United States. She is currently 32 years old. T.D Jakes (father) and Serita Jakes (mother) are Sarah’s parents (mother). Her father founded and serves as senior pastor of “The Potter’s House,” a non-denominational church in Texas.

Similarly, her mother, Serita Jakes, is an actress who has appeared in films and television shows such as Not Easily Broken (2009), Oprah’s Lifeclass (2013), and Praise (2015).

The author is one of five siblings in her family. Thomas, Jermaine, and Jamar Jakes are her three brothers. Jermaine and Cora Jakes Coleman are her sisters.

Sarah is married to Touré Roberts, an author, and pastor. On November 4, 2014, the author proposed to him, and their engagement was formalized that year at a special ceremony at One Church International in Los Angeles led by Pastor Roberts.

Sarah married her partner on November 23, 2014, following their engagement. The same year, her husband revealed on Instagram the moment he discovered he wanted to marry Sarah.

According to the author’s husband, she assisted in the care of his late father before his death in 2014.

Previous Relationship

Sarah married professional basketball player Robert Henson in 2009.

However, the couple divorced in 2012, and Sarah stated on her website, sarahdhenson.com, that she feared for her safety:

“Henson wrote, “I have decided to leave my four-year marriage after professional counseling and sincere deliberation.” There are scriptural grounds for this decision, and I have exhausted all other options, but after repeated transgressions during the duration of the relationship, and for my own and my children’s protection, I have made this difficult decision.”

She continued,

“My ministry and identity have been based around being the best wife and mother I can be. I’ve been attempting to navigate some major domestic issues for quite some time. My marriage, as much as I wanted it to, cannot last.”

The motivational speaker’s former partner was a linebacker for the Washington Redskins in the NBA.

Sarah was pregnant with a mystery man at the age of 14; this news came as a surprise to the Jakes family. Sarah’s parents were shocked, emotionally heartbroken, and crushed on the inside, but they didn’t back down. Instead, they rose above adversity.

T.D. Jakes, the bishop of The Potter’s House, told her father that the press had flocked to the church to report on the occurrence further. He declined to answer any of the questions, citing a personal concern. It wasn’t about being humiliated or concerned about his image; it was about his daughter’s well-being.

Sarah’s father demonstrated that love triumphs over all.

When asked if she had disappointed her parents, Sarah admitted that she had. She was aware that they had great expectations, and she is now wary of making any mistakes.

“No matter what you’ve done, there’s always a way back,” Sarah explained.

Even though her pregnancy caused difficulties for her family, she believed it was the best thing in the world since she learned how much her parents love her.

Sarah welcomed her son Malachi Jakes after all of her trials.

Sarah and Touré had their first child, Ren Taylor Roberts, before welcoming their second child, Ella Roberts, on February 10, 2016.

Jakes Roberts had a daughter, Makenzie Henson, with Robert Henson, who is now 11 years old, while Touré had a daughter, Teya Roberts, and a son, Isaiah Roberts, from prior relationships (born 2002).
