The 19-year-old girl was killed by McAtsaney in an episode of NBC Dateline titled The Betrayal of Sarah Stern.
Sarah was last seen on December 2, 2016, and her car was later discovered parked next to a bridge.
Liam was arrested in February 2017 and charged with the murder of Sarah Stern after Anthony Curry, a friend of Liam’s, was able to record his confession during a sting operation.

Megan and Quinn McAteney are Liam McAteney’s parents. On the internet, not much is known about them.
The parents are still convinced that their son is innocent even though he has been found guilty of killing Sarah Stern.
Megan said that her son Liam was set up and that he was unable to commit such an act in an interview with ABC’s investigative program 20/20.
She highlighted that if Sarah had been dropped into the ocean, her body should have washed up on the coast, noting that it had taken until now for her body to be discovered.
Sarah should have left and never communicated with anyone, according to Megan.
Additionally, Megan disclosed that Sarah had informed her daughter that she intended to move from New Jersey to either Canada or California.
Preston Taylor, Liam’s former roommate, however, testified about Sarah’s murder in court.
Sarah’s body was thrown from the bridge connecting Neptune and Belmar in New Jersey by Taylor, who invited her to the junior prom at Neptune High School.
Liam was therefore given a life sentence without the possibility of release in June 2019.

Due to this, the police detained Liam and accused him of first-degree murder, robbery, and second-degree desecration of human remains, among other offenses.
A box of cash left by Sarah’s late mother was the target of the murder in order to steal.
A few months prior to the crime, Liam planned the heist and murder.
Liam called his friend Preston Taylor to have Sarah’s body dumped over the Route 35 bridge after he had strangled her, making it seem like a suicide.
It appeared as though Sarah had driven her car alone to the bridge because it was discovered parked by the side of the bridge with the key in the ignition.
Fortunately, detectives were able to convict McAtsaney of murder and sentence him to life in prison.
