Fans are wondering about Frost’s new job with the Iowa Hawkeyes. Scott Andrew Frost (born January 4, 1975) is a former American football coach and player. The Wood River High School graduate began his undergraduate career at Stanford before switching to Nebraska.

The 1996 Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year led the Cornhuskers to two national championships (1995 and 1997). Scott was selected by the New York Jets in the third round (67th overall) of the 1998 NFL Draft. He later appeared for the Cleveland Browns, Green Bay Packers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Following his playing career, Frost began coaching at Nebraska, Kansas State, Northern Iowa, Oregon, and UCF. Throughout his coaching career, the 2017 AAC Coach of the Year has won AP College Football Coach of the Year, Home Depot Coach of the Year, and Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year honors.

Are the Iowa Hawkeyes offering Scott Frost a new job?

Scott Frost, the former head coach of Nebraska Cornhuskers Football, is expected to return to coaching sooner than anticipated. Furthermore, he may not be finished causing problems for his former clubs just yet.

Despite the drama surrounding Frost’s departure from Nebraska, he remains highly regarded and may soon find a job as an offensive coordinator. Scott is rumored to be joining the Iowa Hawkeyes. This would create a rivalry between him and his former teammates.

However, Iowa’s more conventional offensive strategy may not appear to be a good fit for Frost. Brian Ferentz’s latest release strengthens his chances of making the roster. This might result in a coaching change and an opportunity for Frost to seek payback. Despite reports, Scott’s intention to join Iowa is not yet official.

Why Was Scott Frost Fired?

Scott took the head football coaching position at his alma mater, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, on December 2, 2017. Soon after he took over as head coach, the team endured its worst football season in a row. Frost’s 2019 season started out nicely, but it did not last long. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Nebraska’s 2020 conference schedule was shortened to eight games.

Furthermore, the team won only three games that season, beating Penn State, Purdue, and Rutgers. Nebraska Athletics Director Trev Alberts stated in 2021 that Frost would return for the 2022 season but with a $1 million pay cut and a smaller buyout. Scott also dismissed four offensive coaching assistants that day. Nebraska finished the season 3-9.

During his first four seasons as Nebraska’s head coach, the team struggled. Frost went 5-20 in games decided by eight or fewer points, 10-25 in Big Ten Conference games, and 0-14 against ranked opponents. Scott became the first Nebraska head coach since Bill Jennings (1957–1961) to go without a winning season. Finally, Nebraska couldn’t take it anymore and fired Scott on September 11, 2022. It was the day after the Cornhuskers’ 45-42 home loss to Georgia Southern.
