Serena Levy’s Daughter Helped Him Land A Job With Steven Spielberg

Serena Levy

Serena Levy is Levy’s spouse, and the couple has four children. Levy first lived alone in New York, while his wife and children lived in Brentwood Park.

However, the director became so captivated with living on the East Coast that he moved his family to midtown Manhattan, where he now resides next door to Ryan Reynolds.

In 2010, he had the opportunity to pitch to his idol, Steven Spielberg, but the Canadian producer-director suffered a panic attack prior to the meeting. As the situation grew worse, the director began hyperventilating.

Levy made a phone call to his wife in Los Angeles as he circled the block in Midtown Manhattan where he had a scheduled pitch meeting.

Unfortunately, she was in the shower and unable to answer the phone, so only his 12-year-old daughter was able to calm him down. Levy reported to the Wall Street Journal what his daughter had said to him.

She added,

“‘Dad, as you always tell us, you know what you must do.’ You are ready. ‘Go do it immediately.'”

Levy secured a role as executive producer on Spielberg’s Real Steel due to his daughter’s influence on the filmmaker. Under Speilberg’s tutelage, he learned several things, the most important of which was self-confidence.

The director followed Real Steel with This Is Where I Leave You, a more mature and emotional film. This Is Where I Leave You, in contrast to Real Steel, concentrated on the entire family, from fathers and sons to brothers, sisters, and mothers.

The film was based on the 2009 novel of the same name by Jonathan Tropper and follows four siblings who returned home after their father’s death.

He told Entertainment Weekly that he was thinking about his wife while producing the picture. “Serena was with me on that particular Christmas holiday five years ago when I read this book.

She was with me when I considered making The Way, Way Back, and a few more smaller pictures. “She is well aware that this has been a challenging trip,” the director remarked.

He described how the film had moved his wife and how he desired for her to be proud of his accomplishments. According to Collider, the film was well-made and entertainingly engaging.
