Shohei, a Japanese SMROOKIES trainee, recently said that Sehun of EXO inspired him to pursue a career in music. In the premiere episode of Welcome to NCT Universe, Sungchan and Shotaro greeted the pre-debut trio of Shohei, Seunghan, and Eunseok.
One of the many topics discussed by the three was Shohei’s role model. In one potent sentence, he described the hero who inspired him to follow in his footsteps.
He declared:
“After seeing Sehun of EXO, I aspired to become a singer.”
After the hosts joked that it was just Sehun because EXO once had 11 members but now has only nine, the SMROOKIES member responded:
“You are correct. Everything I want is due to Sehun (hyung).”
SMROOKIES’ In Welcome to NCT Universe Episode 1, Shohei sends a warm video greeting to Sehun of EXO, his idol.
Sungchan and Shotaro are the hosts of the newest variety show, Welcome to NCT Universe, which brings together all of the NCT members (127, DREAM, and WayV) and SMROOKIES under one roof.
On November 16, 2022, the program premiered with SMROOKIES members Shohei, Seunghan, and Eunseok as guests.
During the event, Sungchan questioned Shohei’s decision to pursue an idol career at one point. The 26-year-old trainee responded immediately with EXO’s Sehun.
He then explained that he had met his role model at a company event and had the good fortune to talk with him.
“I once had the wonderful fortune to share a business meal with him. That seemed like a nightmare.”
Due to his fear, the 26-year-old would-be-idol could not communicate with him effectively. The statement prompted Sungchan and Shotaro to develop an intriguing concept.
They demanded that Sehun get a video message from the SMROOKIES member. The request struck him by surprise, but he complied nonetheless.
“How do you do? It has been some time.” Shohei here. I greatly adore you, Sehun Hyung. I will always support you. I anticipate having more business meals with you in the future. “I admire you.”
After getting a message from a member of SMROOKIES, Sungchan, Shotaro, Seunghan, and Eunseok were ecstatic. This is not the first time Shohei has cited Sehun of EXO as his inspiration for entering the K-pop industry.
Earlier this year, he told WWD Korea that he fell in love with the EXO singer at first sight after hearing him perform the 2014 song Overdose.
The trailer for episode 2 of Welcome to NCT Universe, which debuted on November 17, hinted at an even more exciting gathering of the NCT males. The freshmen will form teams and compete against the veterans.
\The second episode promises several heartwarming and endearing interactions between the superstars and trainees. Kocowa TV will telecast the second episode of Welcome to NCT Universe on November 23, 2022.
