Simon was the director, producer, and writer of the B film Two Days in 2000. He was also given the story credit for the Edie Sedgwick biographical movie Factory Girl from 2006.
He was reportedly set to helm The White Hotel, starring Brittany Murphy as the main actress, according to reports from the year 2007. The project, however, was never launched.

Many people were shocked by the sudden death of Simon Monjack, Brittany Murphy’s husband, who died five months after his wife.
The British producer was discovered dead in his Hollywood home on May 23, 2010, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
Around 9:20 p.m., Murphy’s mother, Sharon, discovered her son-in-law unconscious in the master bedroom and dialed 911.
Soon after the paramedics came, Monjack was declared dead at 9:45 p.m., but it was already too late.
According to the coroner’s findings, severe anemia and acute pneumonia contributed to Monjack’s death.
It was an odd coincidence since Brittany Murphy, his wife, had passed away in a similar manner five months previously.
The Los Angeles County Department of Health speculated that hazardous mold in their home may have contributed to their deaths.
However, LA Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter rejected it, claiming that mold had nothing to do with their demise.
Sharon, Brittany’s mother, said that the notion that mold had a role in the deaths of the two people was preposterous.
But Sharon changed her mind and sued the lawyers who were defending her in a case against California house builders in December 2011.
Monjack’s mother, Linda, revealed to People months before to his passing that her son was not feeling well and had a little heart attack only a week before Brittany passed away.
Simon was interred in Forest Lawn in the Hollywood Hills next to Brittany.

In 2007, Brittany Monjack and Simon Murphy wed in a secret Jewish ceremony at their Los Angeles home.
The pair exchanged their vows in a ceremony performed by a Rabbi while being surrounded by their relatives.
Many admirers were shocked by the wedding since the pair almost ever appeared in public together and kept their engagement a secret.
Before getting married, Simon and Brittany were both in relationships.
Since November 2001, Simon and Simone Bienne had been wed. But they broke up in 2006, the same year he met Brittany, the woman who would become his wife.
Similar to Brittany, she dated Ashton Kutcher, her Just Married co-star, in late 2002 but the relationship ended soon after.
For a period, Murphy and talent agent Jeff Kwatinetz were engaged, however the engagement did not lead to marriage.
