A Japanese SMROOKIES trainee named Shohei reportedly identified Sehun from EXO as his musical inspiration. Presenters Sungchan and Shotaro welcomed the pre-debut trio of Shohei, Seunghan, and Eunseok in the inaugural episode of Welcome to NCT Universe.

The three talked about a range of subjects, including Shohei’s role model. He described the hero who inspired him to follow in his footsteps in one moving sentence. He declared:
I was inspired by Sehun of EXO to pursue singing.
The SMROOKIES member answered when the hosts quipped that it was only Sehun because EXO once had 11 members but is now down to nine:
“That’s accurate. Sehun (Hyung) is the cause of everything I want.

Suchan and Shotaro serve as the hosts of the newest variety show, Welcome to NCT Universe, which unites all of the NCT members (127, DREAM, and WayV) and SMROOKIES under one roof. On November 16, 2022, Shohei, Seunghan, and Eunseok of SMROOKIES made special appearances on the show.

Suchan questioned Shohei’s decision to pursue an idol career at one point throughout the occasion. The 26-year-old trainee answered right away, mentioning Sehun of EXO. Then he recalled how he had the good fortune to speak with his role model when they had first met at a corporate event.
“I once had the wonderful fortune to dine with him for business. It appeared to be a nightmare.
The 26-year-old would-be-idol was unable to communicate with him much because of his fear. Hosts Sungchan and Shotaro developed an intriguing proposal in response to the comment. They asked the SMROOKIES member to video message Sehun. He was caught off guard by the request, but he carried it out.
“How’s it going? It has been some while. Here’s Shohei. You know how much I adore you, Sehun Hyung. I always have your back. I look forward to many more business dinners with you in the future. I love you.
After getting a message from a SMROOKIES member, Sungchan, Shotaro, Seunghan, and Eunseok were overjoyed. Shohei has previously cited Sehun from EXO as his inspiration for entering the K-pop industry.
He admitted to WWD Korea earlier this year that he had a love-at-first-sight relationship with the EXO singer after hearing him perform the 2014 song Overdose.
The second episode of Welcome to NCT Universe, which broadcast on November 17, teased an even more exciting reunion of all the NCT boys. Teams of freshmen will compete against teams of seniors.
There will be some touching and adorable interactions between the superstars and trainees in the second episode. Kocowa TV will broadcast the upcoming Welcome to NCT Universe program on November 23, 2022.
