Murderer

Stephanie Russell Was Arrested For Hiring A Hitler To Kill Her Ex-Husband

Stephanie Russell

Former Owensboro physician Dr. Stephanie Russell has been detained on suspicion of hiring an undercover FBI agent to kill her ex-husband.

According to the US Department of Justice, Russell was accused of carrying out murder for hire while using interstate commerce facilities. On May 19, at 5:40 p.m., FBI officers captured Russell, 52. The doctor was most recently employed by Kidzlife Pediatrics in Louisville. He is originally from Owensboro.

Sources claim Russell promised to pay $7,000 in restitution for the murder and on May 18, he deposited $3,500 of the agreed-upon amount in a dropbox outside her doctor’s office.

After being charged with major offenses for allegedly intending to kill her ex-husband, Russell was detained in an Oldham County federal prison. For the first instance, she appeared before a US Magistrate Judge in the US District Court for the Western District of Kentucky.

According to court records, Russell’s ex-husband started the divorce process in 2018, and it was concluded in 2020. Before she was jailed, they were disputing over who should get custody of the child. In a lawsuit against the court that gave her ex-husband temporary full custody of the couple’s two children, her attorney called the accusations “preposterous.”

Russell and her ex-husband reportedly “had been fighting for custody of their two children for at least two years,” according to court documents.

On May 24, a hearing will be held to assess her pretrial detention. She might spend as much as ten years in federal prison if found guilty. Authorities said:

A federal district court judge will base any sentence they impose on the US Sentencing Guidelines and other legal considerations. The statement was given by Western District of Kentucky US Attorney Michael A. Bennett.
