Andres was one of the Chicago Police officers that arrived at the site after receiving a call about a guy pursuing a lady with a pistol. Sadly, the 18-year-old male suspect was shot while doing his duty and sent to Mount Sinai Medical Center, where physicians declared him dead. After the incident, a sizable contingent of police officers gathered at the hospital and spent the whole night praying for his family.
His corpse was afterward sent to the West Side Cook County morgue. After fleeing from a stolen automobile that was made a target in a shooting, the gunman was apprehended for two firearms. The policeman had a little daughter and was married. The three-person family had just relocated to Marquette Park from another location.
Sara Montemayor, a neighbor of the policeman, recalled seeing him and his family walking their dogs a day before being shot. One of the policemen who worked with the other remarked, “We’re out here to pay our respects to our brother in blue.” He was always grinning, the officer said. Vasquez-Lasso was only known to them in passing, but they knew he was intelligent and on the rise since they worked an earlier shift than him.

Previously, Montano was detained on a misdemeanor charge of impeding or resisting a peace officer, but the case was later dropped by the prosecution.
