Charges for Sungnam Lisowski’s Murder

Aurora resident Sungnam Kwon Lisowski was charged in connection with a horrific murder and attempted murder that occurred on Christmas Day in 2002.

A neighborhood was left with shock and grief when the tragedy occurred inside their family’s house.

The incident started on September 5, 2002, when Sungnam’s husband, John Lisowski, wrote a devastating email stating that he wanted a divorce.

The 19-year marriage of the couple—who had first met in South Korea—was destroyed by this news.

The allegations were related to an event in which Sungnam bought a.38-caliber snub-nosed handgun out of despair and rage after her spouse publicly declared his desire for a divorce.

Sungnam was accused of first-degree murder for her husband’s death and attempted first-degree murder for attacking her kids after the horrifying event.

Her defense counsel claimed that she was mentally incompetent for trial, which raised questions about her mental health in the case.

Sungnam Kwon Lisowski ultimately entered a guilty plea to the charges despite being mentally ill, and she was sentenced to 45 years in jail without the chance of release for what she had done on that terrible Christmas morning.

In the episode “We’re Glad Mom is Dead” of “Evil Lives Here,” the murder case of Sungnam Kwon Lisowski was highlighted.

Sungnam Lisowski Is Charged With Her Husband John Lisowski’s Death

On Christmas Day in 2002, Sungnam Kwon Lisowski was charged with a terrifying crime that rocked the neighborhood.

Driven by rage, despair, and envy, Sungnam made a crucial choice that would change the course of many lives.

John Lisowski was sitting naively at his computer on Christmas morning when he became the first casualty of Sungnam’s wrath.

Her husband’s life was abruptly taken when she mercilessly fired numerous rounds at him, hitting him in the back of the head and many times in the back.

There was yet more tragedy ahead. The violent outburst from Sungnam also affected the couple’s two kids, who are 14 and 12 years old.

She was cold and deliberate in her approach to the daughters after murdering her husband.

Sungnam mercilessly shot the elder daughter as she up the stairs to their bedroom, then she went for the younger one.

The younger daughter, scared and in need, bravely tried to call for assistance by breaking out of the room and dialing 911. The small girl was calling for help, and the dispatcher could hear gunshots.

When first responders arrived on the site amid the gunfire, they saw a terrifying scenario.

Sungnam had self-inflicted gunshot wounds to her chest in a different room, and both females were discovered to have several gunshot wounds.

Her defense lawyer claimed that she was mentally incompetent for trial, which sparked concerns about her mental health in the wake of the disaster.
