Duff McKagan, a former Guns N’ Roses member, has been married to Susan Holmes for over two decades. They have two daughters together.
McKagan and his wife have spoken openly about their relationship on numerous occasions. In many cases, the couple has revealed the reason for their long marriage. One of the primary reasons, as both have stated, is trust.
When asked how he managed to stay faithful to Holmes while on tour while avoiding the temptations of groupies, McKagan said he could never do that to his wife.
“To be honest, it never occurs to me. “For starters, I could never do that to my wife,” he admitted.
“And it’s not even a situation where I have to think about it.” It doesn’t even occur to me.”
Holmes has also spoken out, stating that she and McKagan have a lot of trust and respect for one another. She went on to say that any relationship was difficult. “Like any other relationship, you must continue to invest in it and not get complacent.”
Duff McKagan’s Marriage to Wife Susan Holmes McKagan first met Holmes on a blind date set up by a friend in 1996. Initially, Holmes was hesitant to pursue her relationship with McKagan, one of his generation’s biggest rock stars. She also mentioned that she had asked him if she could pick him up at his house rather than his because she wasn’t sure if she wanted him to know her address.
“Looking back, he’s far from that,” she said of her initial impressions of him. “He is the definition of a gentleman.”
Duff McKagan has two children with his wife
A year into their relationship, McKagan and Holmes welcomed their first child together, daughter Grace “Grave” Elizabeth, in August 1997. The couple married two years later, on August 28, 1999. When Holmes gave birth to daughter Mae Marie in July 2020, their family of three grew by one.
Grace, their elder daughter, is following in the footsteps of McKagan. ‘One You Love,’ ‘Baby That’s Rock N Roll,’ and ‘So Hyper,’ among others, have been uploaded to her YouTube channel. Grace was studying to become a CorePower Yoga instructor in November 2021, in addition to pursuing a music career, according to McKagan. Mae, their daughter, studies full-time and models part-time.
Keeping the Love Alive
Both McKagan and Holmes have spoken out about how they keep their relationship going. Aside from genuine trust and respect, Holmes revealed that giving each other space was critical.
“Of course,” she explained, “we enjoy each other’s company.” “But he needs to go on tour, and I’m busy with my own projects.”
The opportunity to travel extensively, according to Holmes, aided their relationship. She stated that a change of scenery in a relationship is beneficial and helps to keep the romance alive.
