Talib Kweli sued Jezebel in 2020 for mental anguish caused by one of their articles explaining his Twitter suspension. Jezebel’s story, he claims, used him to demonstrate how black males treat black women.
He had to deal with a number of issues, such as depression, insomnia, anxiety, and others. According to Kweli, they portrayed him as a monster who despises black women. Kweli also stated that approximately 500,000 of his followers, as well as his ex-wife and employees, are all black. Meanwhile, a G/O Media spokeswoman stated,
“Jezebel’s story accurately reported on the dispute that resulted in the permanent suspension of Talib Kweli’s Twitter account.” This lawsuit, filed two years after the article was published, is without merit, and the corporation will seek our attorneys’ fees in accordance with the press’s rights to publish stories of public importance like this one.”
