The Illinois native is best known for her roles in General Hospital (2001-05), Days of Our Lives, and Little Chenier (2006). She recently made a return to General Hospital as Kim Nero.
She played Carly Corinthos on General Hospital from 2001 to 2005, and Reese Williams on All My Children from 2008 to 2009. In 2009, she received a Daytime Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Ava Vitali on Days of Our Lives. She left the show in 2008, only to make a brief return as Taylor Walker in 2011.
In 2017, Braun returned as Kim Nero, Oscar’s single mother, twelve years after leaving her role as Carly Corinthos on General Hospital.

Tamara Eve Braun was born on April 18, 1971, in Evanston, Illinois, United States. Renata/Renate E. Bennett and Bennett O. Braun, her parents, were psychiatrists and psychologists.
She is of Ashkenazi Jewish descent, which she inherited from her grandparents, who faced a difficult challenge during World War II. Her maternal grandparents, Erwin Samuel Deutsch and Steffi Buch were Holocaust survivors born in Breslau, Germany (now Wroclaw, Poland).
She revealed that her grandfather was the only person with whom she felt safe, respected, honored, and loved; she shared a deep soul connection with him.
Her family has a fun Karaoke band that includes herself and her parents; she is the bassist, her father sings, and her mother plays the keyboard. Her favorite pastime is spending time with her family.
Tamara majored in psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, influenced by her parents’ profession. She was, however, born with a talent for acting. She couldn’t help but be herself, so she enrolled in a summer course at The Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.

Tamara’s on-screen husband, Eden Rigel, tweeted in 2013 that Tamara would always be her first wife.
Tamara hilariously asked her if she wanted to marry her again. Even though the wedding was taking place on-screen, Tamara and Eden understood the significance of it. They continued to remind people of that iconic moment until same-sex marriage was finally legalized.
Having said that, Tamara has never married in real life. Despite being a part of a historic event, she has yet to reach that milestone in her life and does not have anyone she can call her husband.

Braun portrayed Reese Williams in All My Children in 2008. She was a member of the famous lesbian couple Reese and Bianca (Eden Riegel), whose names are etched in history.
They made history on February 14, 2009, when they married, becoming the first legal same-sex marriage on a soap opera. This step from the television series proved to be a huge step forward for the future of the LGBT community, who were not legally allowed to marry.
Braun represented equality and showed great pride in encouraging other LGBT people to come forward. On June 26, 2015, six years after the couple’s lesbian wedding was broadcast on television, LGBT marriage was finally legalized in real life.
