McGinley and Gigi Rice have two children, Beau, and Quinn McGinley, and have been married since 1991.
Rice is also an actress, having been in Harry and the Hendersons, The John Larroquette Show, and other shows. She and McGinley worked together on Hope & Faith and Christmas Reservations.
