Kim Fields started her acting career when she was very young. When she was five years old, she had already started getting parts in significant plays. Kim’s mother, Chip Fields, served as an outstanding role model for acting.

And she wasn’t just moved by her from a distance. Chip had a direct impact on Kim’s choice to pursue a career in acting. On the other hand, Chip and their precarious financial situation did.
The mother of Kim Fields accompanied her on the ride
Chip was a single mother who lived in New York when Kim was a young child. Growing up, Kim was an introverted person. Her mother exposed her to the performing arts.
Kim’s present income did not allow her to hire a babysitter. She would so accompany her to her acting classes. There were other kids in the establishment besides Kim. She had a broad social circle and there were many other mothers in the same predicament.
Kim, though, would get restless while her mother was focused on mastering her profession. And the other kids would do the same. They so started an impersonation act to amuse themselves.
In 2010, Kim said to Parade, “We amused ourselves by copying what we saw them do, which led to the development of acting classes for the younger children.” She had the acting bug from a young age, but she didn’t feel obligated to pursue it professionally.
I was never forced into the industry, Kim earlier said in the same interview. She did not have the manner of an actor. I’ve never been the type to put on a show for loved ones at every get-together. It’s reasonable to assume that soon after her attitude changed considerably.
In 1974, Chip officially started her career as an actor. She wanted to widen her horizons because she was a well-known vocalist before this. Kim then repeated the action three years later.
She reportedly started her acting career in advertisements at the age of five and made her television debut on Sesame Street.
In Have I Got a Christmas for You, she made her television debut as Angie Ellis in 1977. Then followed Dorothy “Tootie” Ramsey in The Facts of Life, for which she is most known. At this point, she has accumulated almost 60 acting credits, 23 directing credits, ten producing credits, and a few others in related areas of the entertainment industry.
But she will always be playing her mother in those acting classes as her main and most significant role.
