But the logical assumption would turn out to be incorrect. Because of her father, Mohamed Hadid, and mother, Yolanda Hadid, the model has a unique heritage.

What Ethnicity Is Bella Hadid?

The father of Hadid is an Arab Palestinian who was born in Israel’s Nazareth. He, Bella, and Bella’s siblings, Gigi and Anwar Hadid are all Muslims.

Her mother is a native of the Netherlands, hailing from Papendrecht. Bella hence has Dutch and Arab Palestinian ancestry.

Her sister Gigi Hadid’s DNA test, published on her Twitter profile, also revealed a lot about their ancestry. According to the report, she was 26.9% Western Asian and 69.2% European. She has 21.5% Italian ancestry.

Reaction to Bella Hadid’s Vogue Arabia cover

Four months after her sister, Bella graced the cover of Vogue Arabia in September 2017. Because they had hoped to see someone from the Middle East, they were horrified to see Gigi on the surface.

Bella was featured on the cover of the magazine despite the criticism, and even though she is of Arab Palestinian descent, some people thought she was the wrong choice for the cover.

Critics poured into the comments area of the Instagram post about the problem to voice their dismay.

According to one user, “I was hopeful with the shift in Editor-in-Chief but I’m unhappy Vogue Arabia has picked another Hadid again on the cover – it’s like their part Palestinian origin and American supermodel status make them the only worthy Arab models.”

“I believe that what has been said is accurate. Arabic models ought to be included. Vogue Arabia,” a another user remarked.

The publication was criticized for being misleading and whitewashed, and it was asserted that this was due to a lack of social responsibility.

Others voiced their concern at the Hadid sisters’ silence on the Israel/Palestine conflict even though they are Palestinian.

Pro-Palestinian demonstration by Bella Hadid in New York City

Bella seemed to have gotten the message from the detractors because, in May 2021, she expressed her opinions about the Israeli-Palestinian issue.

Thousands of people participated in the pro-Palestinian march in New York City, including the supermodel and her sister. They were carrying a sizable Palestinian flag while donning a traditional outfit, a Keffiyeh, and a face mask.

On her Instagram, Bella posted images and videos of the demonstration she attended along with the statement,

“How my heart is feeling. Being surrounded by so many gorgeous, intelligent, polite, loving, kind, and kind Palestinians in one location makes me feel whole. We are an uncommon breed! Palestine is free till Palestine is free!

To support Palestinians who had been the target of Israeli bombings, thousands of people from all over the world flocked to the streets. The protesters demanded that Tel Aviv cease its assaults on Gaza.
