The King praises Emmerdale As The Soap Opera Wins Big At The National Television Awards

Emmerdale

The soap opera won big at the National Television Awards (NTAs) on the eve of its 50th anniversary, and The King hailed Emmerdale for its contribution.

In the midst of their “queue-gate” debacle, Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby also retained their positions as the king and queen of daytime television.

Additionally, during his acceptance speech for the prize, financial expert Martin Lewis criticized the government’s handling of the economy.

Ant and Dec also received their 21st best presenter award in a row.

However, after both catching Covid, the two were unable to attend the ceremony.

Due to the passing of the Queen, the NTAs for this year was held at London’s Wembley Arena one month later than scheduled.

The future monarch expressed his congratulations to the ITV serial drama on having almost reached its half-century mark in a video shot before his mother passed away, as he recalled “being so ancient” he could remember it originally being called Emmerdale Farm.

The show, he said, was a “great British export” that had adhered to the original intent of its creator by “depicting what life is like for those who work the land and safeguard our magnificent countryside.”

It also perfectly emphasizes a point that truly worries me: the long-term viability of the way we generate our food.

Following the speech, it was revealed that Marlon Dingle’s actor Mark Charnock had received the serial drama performance honor.

Following the compelling plotline, Charnock, whose character had a stroke, told the BBC’s Daniel Rosney that it had been “overwhelming” to see so many others relate their comparable experiences.

I’ve been upstaged in my life by a few queens, but never by a king, Boy George said as he gave the Yorkshire soap the night’s biggest award for best serial drama.

The performance included segments to commemorate both the war in Ukraine and the death of the Queen, with many celebrities dressing in all-black that evening.

ITV executives recently defended This Morning host Willoughby and Schofield after they were accused of cutting line for the Queen’s lying-in-state.

Don’t believe we ever become complacent, and please don’t think we ever take this for granted, Schofield said as she accepted the prize for the best daytime show for a second consecutive year.

Every year, but especially this year, this means so much to us.

He turned to Willoughby and said,

“We have the most incredible staff, and I have the best friend. “Our boss is the finest,”

While there was some booing heard around the crowd, they quickly subsided once the famous couple and their team arrived on stage.

I think This Morning has a really special relationship with you, so thank you very much. This award means everything since it was chosen by you, said Willoughby. “You put on our performance for us,”

The host city for Eurovision 2023 is Liverpool because the 2022 winners are now unable to host the competition. Ukrainian broadcaster Timur Miroshnychenko hailed the UK for its ongoing support and said his nation is “looking forward” to the event.

“Get a grip”

Sam Ryder, a UK Eurovision contestant, opened the show with a rousing performance of his song Space Man. Next, a casually attired Lewis Capaldi sang his new single, Forget Me.

But in the midst of it all, politics entered the picture when consumer advocate Martin Lewis was named the greatest expert in a brand-new category.

Lewis addressed the cost-of-living crisis, saying it “has been a fairly dreadful year, financially.” He expressed astonishment at having won the award ahead of Sir David Attenborough.

The energy situation, he continued, “has been awful and has left many people with terrible troubles and mental health concerns.”

“I’m worried that the coming year will be quite difficult due to the mortgage issue and its impact on rent.

The last time Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly didn’t win was in 2000 when Michael Barrymore won it. They defeated competitors like Alison Hammond to win their 21st straight presenting prize.

The actor who portrays Max Turner on Coronation Street, Paddy Bever, who won the rising star award on Thursday night, wasn’t even alive back then.

“Full respect to these people, 21 years in a row,” Stephen Mulhern said as he accepted the medal on their behalf.

“This baby is coming home with me,” he said, adding ironically his name to the trophy.

In recognition of her ongoing documentation of her family’s lives as her husband Derek Draper receives coronavirus treatment, Kate Garraway won the prize for a best-scripted documentary for a second consecutive year.

And what about that? Lewis tacked on. “We need someone to take control of the economy and turn things around a bit.”

As pressure increases on Prime Minister Liz Truss to reverse course on the mini-budget, BBC News reported shortly after the ceremony that Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng had cut short his travel to the US for urgent talks in Downing Street.

She dedicated the victory to the nation’s caregivers and thanked the filmmakers for “making a very difficult thing easier” while being flanked by her daughter Darcey.

Garraway said while announcing her husband was once again in the hospital, “We have a care issue in our country but we don’t have a crisis of love.

A weeping Sir Lenny Henry received the special recognition award after being lauded by celebrities in a video for having paved the way for other black British artists. Henry is a comedian, actor, and Comic Relief fundraiser.

He grinned and nodded to the royals, saying, “These awards are so long David Beckham is still waiting to go in.

Along with Strictly Come Dancing, other wins that evening included After Life, Gogglebox, and Peaky Blinders with Cillian Murphy.

The talent contest winner, Strictly champion Rose Ayling-Ellis, who dazzled the nation with a dance honoring the experience of deaf people everywhere last year, claimed the program had changed “people’s attitudes.”
