On January 22, 1996, Russell Gage Jr., a wide receiver with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League, was born.
The Atlanta Falcons picked him from LSU, where he played college football, in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Due of his underwhelming college performance, Gage was not invited to the combine or any significant award ceremonies.
Gage, though, attracted notice following a successful Pro Day with coaches praising his work ethic.
Gage was taken by the Atlanta Falcons with the 194th overall choice in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, four rounds after teammate wide receiver D. J. Chark from LSU.
In Week 6’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Gage made his first career catch, which gained him six yards.
As a rookie, he played in 15 games for a squad with a potent receiving group, recording six catches for 63 yards.
In Week 13 of the 2019 Season, Gage scored his first receiving touchdown as a professional against the New Orleans Saints.
With 49 catches for 446 receiving yards and one receiving score to cap up the 2019 season, Gage finished fourth on the team behind Pro Bowlers Calvin Ridley, Julio Jones, Austin Hooper, and Julio Jones.

In the final minutes of the game, wide receiver Russell Gage was carried off the field with what seemed to be a neck injury as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers trailed the Dallas Cowboys 31-14.
Gage struggled to get up after taking a hard knock to the neck, which ESPN commentators described as “a sobering moment.”
After the incident, the Buccaneers’ quarterback, Tom Brady, looked terrifiedly at his wide receiver.
Players on both teams bowed their heads in prayer while athletic trainers attended to Gage.
The wide receiver was taken off the field and put on a spinal-protecting backboard.
Gage later had a concussion and was sent to a local hospital, according to Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles.
Bowles claims that they are also inspecting him for any potential neck injuries.
“His fingers were moving while he was resting down. Regarding the others, I’m not sure,” Bowles said in reference to Gage’s limb motions.
