California public defender Elliot Blair was found dead while traveling to commemorate his first wedding anniversary.
Authorities in Baja California said on Monday that the death of an Orange County deputy public defender last weekend at a Mexican beach resort was a “unfortunate accident.”
ABC News was notified on Monday by a law enforcement source that there are contradictions in the official story.
The source said that 33-year-old Blair had a forehead injury “that would not have been caused by a fall.” The Post has not endorsed the material.
The surprising claims come after declarations made on his GoFundMe by his family, friends, and colleagues that he “was the victim of a horrible crime.”
He was there to celebrate his first wedding anniversary with Kim Williams, a fellow public attorney, at the luxurious Las Rocas Resort and Spa, which is situated about 40 miles south of San Diego.

Stella Blair, the mother of California lawyer Elliot Blair, said she is “beyond heartbroken” as the family continues requesting information from the Mexican government.
Stella Blair, Elliot’s mother, sobbed when she talked with The Post on Tuesday from her Placentia, California, home.
She said she had been left dumbfounded by the outpouring of love from her son’s friends and colleagues at the Orange County Public Defender’s Office, where he had worked since 2017.
She continued by saying how amazing it was that they all felt like he was their brother. He lifted the spirits of everyone he met with words of encouragement.
Stella also declined to elaborate, adding that the family’s attorneys are looking into the events leading up to her son’s sudden death.
