Johnny Stevens’s Net Worth

Johnny Stevens’ net worth is expected to be more than $4 million as of early 2020, owing to a successful career in the music industry. Since 2009, his primary focus has been with Highly Suspect, with whom he has recorded, released, and toured. The majority of money is derived from the group’s success.

Early Years and the Beginnings of a Career

Johnny grew up on Cape Cod with his brother. He dreamed of a career in the music industry since he was a child, but he fought for several years to make it. He suffered from panic attacks as a young adult and moved around a lot before forming the Brooklyn-based band Highly Suspect with twin brothers Rich and Ryan Meyer, who were also his supporting vocalists. Rich played bass guitar, and Ryan played drums. They were a trio for many years before recently adding Matt Koufos to the mix.

Highly Suspect began as a cover band, but owing to a lack of prospects in New York, the band relocated to the Cape Cod area to perform in local bars, frequently covering Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, and Sublime tunes.

They also shared the stage with Sevendust, Monster Truck, and 10 Years. The trio had a lot of chemistry because they were all friends and classmates at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School.

Breakthrough in Music

Highly Suspect released their debut extended play (EP) titled “First Offense” in 2009, marking their first attempt to be more than just a cover band. “Smile On,” “Life’s a Fun Ride,” and “Not Me” were among the tunes included. They worked on another EP called “Then Mickey, Big Bear” a year later, which included “Gang Lion.”

The group didn’t have much success at the time, but they kept writing music together and released their third EP, “The Worst Humans,” in 2012, which included the songs “The Go” and “Gumshoe.” A year later, their fourth EP “Black Ocean” was released, which included songs like “Guess What” and “Fuck Me Up.”

Highly Suspect then issued a self-titled compilation album, which included new singles as well as songs from their past albums, and went on tour with other well-known brands such as Deftones, Halestorm, and Chevelle. They also debuted their first music video for “Lydia” on MTV.

In 2015, the band signed with 300 Entertainment and released “Mister Asylum,” their debut studio album, which marked the beginning of the band’s mainstream success.

Projects Completed Recently

The title track “Lydia” reached fourth place on the US Mainstream Rock Songs chart; they were also gaining popularity in other countries such as New Zealand and were given an iTunes 2015 New Artist Spotlight, before releasing another single “Bloodfeather,” which reached fifth place on the US Mainstream Rock Songs chart.

Their debut album was a huge success, earning them a nomination for Best Rock Album at the 58th Grammy Awards, as well as a nod for Best Rock Song for the lead single. The following year, the group released their sophomore studio album, “The Boy Who Died Wolfe,” which included the single “My Name Is Human,” which was a huge success, topping the Mainstream Rock Songs list and earning the group a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Song. Their next single, “Little One,” peaked at number two on the same list.

Stevens began posting teasers for a song from an upcoming album, codenamed “Teddy Bear,” in 2018, but it wasn’t until a few months later that the trio began officially working on the album. Their third studio album, titled “MCID,” was released in mid-2019.

New Direction, Criticisms, and Disputes

Following the launch of “MCID,” two singles were released to promote the album – “Upperdrugs” and “16” – both of which showcased the band’s rock influence and alternative rock music. It also included numerous hip-hop songs, including “Tokyo Ghoul,” which featured rapper Young Thug and introduced Stevens’ new alias, Terrible Johnny.

Following this announcement, he revealed that the album will include hip-hop tunes, as the band had always been a lover of rap, as evidenced by the influence of their numerous big singles.

However, many Highly Suspect fans were dissatisfied with the band’s new direction, condemning Stevens for transforming the band into a hip hop group rather than keeping to the music that made them famous. In response, he lashed out at his critics, pushing them away — either they accept this new music, or they may turn around and call his critics fake fans. In later interviews, he continued to lash out at them but emphasized that the band had not abandoned rock music. However, his demeanor and the manner in which he has alienated his fan following have resulted in negative perceptions of him.

Some of his followers who have been with him since the beginning were surprised because they thought he was turning over a new leaf, but being defensive about criticism shows that he hasn’t changed at all in terms of his mentality.

Personal Life

Johnny has been romantically linked to a woman named Kydids, as seen on her Instagram page after she shared a photo of the two on a date. It is unknown if they are still dating, however, she is thought to be close to the entire band because she frequently joins them on tour. She promotes a lot of the band’s music and even shows up at some of their live shows.
