Elizabeth

The newest Starz drama, Becoming Elizabeth, will launch on June 12, 2022. The series chronicles the childhood of Queen Elizabeth I. The event takes place just a few months after Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, which marked the 70th year of her reign as Queen of the United Kingdom.

Continue reading to learn more about Elizabeth Tudor’s early life and other components of Becoming Elizabeth, including the narrative, performers, and more.

Elizabeth Tudor’s youth, the ascent to the throne, and other details are depicted in the Starz series Becoming Elizabeth.

Elizabeth Tudor was born on September 7, 1533, at Greenwich Palace to King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. Anne Boleyn was the second wife of King Henry VIII.

Tudor was deemed an illegitimate child when her parent’s marriage was annulled following Anne Boleyn’s execution in 1536. After the death of her father, Elizabeth was reared as an orphan for the duration of her adolescence, and Edward VI ruled the country until 1556.

Tudor was imprisoned for about a year for supposedly helping Protestant separatists when her half-sister Mary I ultimately became queen.

After the death of Mary in 1558, Tudor became queen. During her reign, some of the finest English literature and art, including works by William Shakespeare, was produced, thanks to her active leadership.

She was typically viewed as more moderate than her father on matters of religion and economic policy.

Despite the fact that many of her political and economic actions and policies continue to divide historians and scholars, Elizabeth Tudor is generally regarded as one of England’s most powerful rulers and continues to enjoy widespread popularity.

The storyline and cast of Becoming Elizabeth

Elizabeth Tudor ascended to power upon the death of her father, King Henry VIII, as recounted in the book Becoming Elizabeth. According to the description of the series on the official YouTube page for Starz:

Young Elizabeth Tudor (Alicia von Rittberg) becomes involved in the political and sexual intrigues of the English court as she vies for the throne in “Becoming Elizabeth.”

The death of King Henry VIII triggers a fierce struggle for power. His surviving descendants are pawns in a power struggle between the great families of England and the European powers.”

The series is intended to be a nuanced portrayal of one of England’s most renowned monarchs. On April 21, 2022, the program’s trailer was published.

It offers a glimpse into the grim world of ambition and power in England during the sixteenth century. Without revealing too much, the trailer catches the essence of the program beautifully.

Elizabeth Tudor is portrayed by Alicia von Rittberg, while the supporting cast includes Romola Garai as Mary I, Tom Cullen as Thomas Seymour, Jessica Raine as Catherine Parr, and many others.

The series is overseen by the renowned playwright and screenwriter Anya Reiss. Starz will air Becoming Elizabeth on June 12, 2022.
