According to Variety, Jenna Ortega, Barry Keoghan, and The Weeknd have all been confirmed to appear in Trey Edward Shults’ upcoming project. For the time being, everything about the film, including the plot and locations, is being kept under wraps.
Shults will direct the film from a screenplay co-written by the actor and his production partner Reza Fahim. The film will be directed by The Weeknd, produced by Fahim, Kevin Turen, and Harrison Kreiss, and executive produced by Schultz and Ortega. The Weeknd had been developing the concept for some time and had recently contacted Trey Edward Shults. The filmmaker agreed to work with him, and Ortega and Keoghan were cast in the lead roles.

The Weeknd came up with the concept for the project. When he and Reza Fahim were given the green light for the film, they began working on the screenplay. While this will be his feature film debut, the Grammy-winning and Oscar-nominated musician will also appear in HBO’s The Idol, which he co-created with Reza Fahim and Euphoria author Sam Levinson.
The Weeknd also made an unexpected appearance as himself in Uncut Diamonds. He has also appeared on American Dad and The Simpsons as a character. Wednesday, Ortega’s groundbreaking Netflix series, has made her a household name. The show has received extremely high ratings and was recently renewed for a second season. On March 11, she will appear on Scream VI and host Saturday Night Live.
Last week, Keoghan won a BAFTA for his performance in The Banshees of Inisherin.
