A 22-year-old who gained a lot of fans on TikTok during the coronavirus pandemic has become the 43rd host of Blue Peter. Shini Muthukrishnan, a native of Stafford, will broadcast her inaugural program on Friday at 17:00 GMT.
Shini Muthukrishnan will co-host with Abby Cook, Joel Mawhinney, and Henry the Dog the longest-running children’s television program in the world.
Blue Peter will be Ms. Muthukrishnan’s inaugural television hosting role. Her lockdown videos paid homage to her British, Indian, and Malaysian ancestry.
Ms. Muthukrishnan, who represented Staffordshire County in badminton, recently earned her philosophy, politics, and economics degree from King’s College London.
Shini Muthukrishnan remarked,
“Being a member of the Blue Peter team is an incredible and surreal experience.”
“The recollections I have of Blue Peter are extremely fond.” Helen Skelton inspired me as a child because she appeared courageous on screen. “Because she confronted insurmountable obstacles with such resolute determination, she inspired me to adopt the same fearless mindset.”
Ellen Evans, editor of Blue Peter, expressed her eagerness for the audience to become acquainted with the new host.
“Shini is an exciting new talent whose daring spirit, sense of humor, determination, and desire to make a positive difference in the lives of children all impressed us,” she said.
The program producers have disclosed that Ms. Muthukrishnan will engage in aircraft aerobatics for her first challenge.
During her inaugural live performance, she will also endeavor to cleanse Henry’s dog and prepare a delectable treat.
