Sheaff died suddenly on Friday, according to posts made on the National Speech and Debate Association and Dowling Catholic High School’s respective Facebook pages.
The NSDA notified KCCI that the educator and NSDA voice had gone away earlier in the week.
Sheaff was a former Dowling Catholic student who worked as the school’s theatre and debate director.
The teacher also worked with the NSDA and performed several duties, the most important of which was serving as the emcee for the national championship.
