Todd began starring in local theater plays after matriculation, took drama training to improve his acting skills, and enrolled at Pitzer College in Claremont, California, where he received his bachelor’s degree in 1998. Todd starred in multiple plays both in college and after graduation, and then made his film debut in 2002 in “Lost Soul,” followed by his next role in 2004 in “The Dangling Conversation” short film.
He rose to prominence after portraying a Times reporter in the 2006 historical crime drama film “Hollywoodland,” which follows a detective as he investigates the unexplained death of George Reeves, star of the TV series “Adventures of Superman.” Todd has only acted in four additional films since then: “Dorfman in Love,” “Blind,” and “Nesting,” both in 2011.

Todd is better recognized for his performances in television programs, and he has been in a number of them over the years, but largely in single episodes. In 2011, he went on a spree, appearing in single episodes of six TV series, including “Human Target” and “Rules of Engagement,” before appearing in four episodes of the comedy-drama TV series “Jane By Design,” which follows a case of mistaken identity in which a high school loner also lives a double life as a twenty-odd-year-old career girl in the fashion world.
Todd was cast as Dale Gordon in the “Wanted” episode of “Nikita” in 2013, and then as Gavin Hope in “Reckless” in 2014. His next significant role came in 2017 when he was invited to play Dwayne Patrick ‘Pat’ Schneider in the comedy TV series “One Day at a Time.”
The plot revolves around three generations of a Cuban-American family that live in the same house, including a freshly divorced mother, her daughter and son, and her grandmother. Todd has now appeared in 39 episodes of the currently airing series.
