Tom Dees Passed Away At The Age Of 57

Tom Dees

The entire world is mourning the death of Fox13 News reporter Tom Dees, who died at his Desoto County home on February 9, 2023.

The Indiana-born reporter died of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a lung disease that makes breathing difficult. It was also revealed that Tom Dees died on February 10, 2023, the day before his birthday. Furthermore, in reporting the tragic death of the reporter, Fox13 stated:

“For many years, Tom worked as a multimedia journalist (MMJ), also known as a one-man band in the television industry. As a result, he usually traversed North Mississippi by himself, submitting a couple of articles per day. Those stories were almost always packed with real people from the area, the ones who were most affected by the story. Tom had no trouble finding genuine people because he was one himself.”

Tom Dees was a journalist who had been in the business since 1988. He graduated from Mississippi State University in 1987, spoke Spanish and English, and spent many years working for Fox18.

Tom died of a rare lung illness, and fans are mourning the loss of the 57-year-old journalist, who was about to turn 58. Social media users, friends, and followers have expressed their condolences to the reporter’s family. Tom is survived by his wife, Cathy, and their three children, Amelia, Ally, and Austin.

Tom’s family has created a GoFundMe page to help him fight IPF: More information about the reporter has come to light. Prior to Tom’s death, the family launched a GoFundMe campaign for the journalist, as they require financial assistance from the public.

Tom Dees’ oldest daughter, Ally Dees, stated in the about section of the GoFundMe page that the money was being raised while Tom was in the hospital being treated for a severe and potentially fatal lung ailment.

When asked about his problems, Ally stated:

“Tom was admitted to the hospital last week after struggling to breathe, and he is now fighting for his life. He is afflicted with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). IPF is a rare lung disease, but it is not uncommon in our family. His father (my grandfather), a veteran United States Air Force Navigator, died 8 months ago, in April 2022, from this cancer.”

She also stated that her father, Tom, will be unable to work, which is why the family is seeking additional assistance. The GoFundMe campaign had raised more than $35,000 from 470 donors as of this writing. At the same time, the reporter received other media honors, including the title of 983 Louisiana 12AAAA State Cross Country Champion. He was also nearly a three-time Emmy winner.
