Tom Oar- Birth, Age, Ethnicity, Siblings, Education

Tom was born in 1943 in Illinois, the USA. While nothing is known about Tom’s childhood and early life, he characterizes himself as an old soul born too late. He worked as a rodeo cowboy in his younger years, which fueled his desire to live off the grid. He finally met his future wife Nancy, who shared his desire to live life apart from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

In Troy, Montana, the two eventually discovered a place they’ve come to adore. Tom began constructing them a house using a chainsaw he had purchased, and over the next five years, the two gradually created a two-room log cabin on an acre and a half of property. To help them survive, the pair learned how to trap beavers and tan hides. Trapping is the act of utilizing a device to remotely catch an animal, while tanning is done to generate leather. They were able to create jackets, moccasins, shirts, and pants, which they sold commercially. They were frequently seen selling their handicrafts at fairs.

Tom Oar- Relationship, Married Life

Oar is married to Nancy, with whom he has been married for almost 50 years. They met in Northern Illinois and stayed together for a long, embarking on adventures before deciding to go to Montana. Nancy, who mentions her love of nature, shares Tom’s passion for the wilderness. They appreciate having a property in the mountains and a river nearby. They have children who have moved to Florida and started their own families.

Both have no plans to change their way of life; for the first 17 years of their marriage in Montana, they learned to live without electricity or running water. They must also deal with a slew of difficulties, such as bitterly harsh winters, and must also learn to defend themselves against predators and to seek or gather their food. They gather a lot of wood to help them prepare for the colder months. Tom has a brother who has been on “Mountain Men” on occasion.

Men of the Mountains

The couple would eventually become one of the subjects of a new History Channel episode that premiered in 2012. The name “Mountain Men” refers to people who live in the wilderness, particularly in the North American Rocky Mountains during the 1800s. Eustace Conway, Marty Meierotto, Rich Lewis, George Michaud, Kyle Bell, Charley Tucker, and other cast members join the couple.

Each of them has a distinct style of life in the wilderness. While Tom is preoccupied with trapping and tanning, the other members of the cast are preoccupied with teaching survival skills. Others go on wildlife hunts, with Rich, in particular, going for mountain lions. There are few additional cast members that hunt for a living, while the majority of the trap for fur or hides. The sitcom became popular, gaining approximately three million viewers per episode on average, and it would run for five seasons before concluding with its fifth season in 2016. There has been no word on whether the show would return since then. However, the show has been successful in assisting these Mountain Men in earning money, since they have profited from the income they have received as a result of their work on the show.

Social media

While Tom and his wife do not run away from the cameras and accept media interviews, they continue to prefer living the old ways. As a result, Tom has no internet or social media presence on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, confirming his claim that he is an ancient soul. On the website YouTube, there are video snippets of him that are frequently taken from episodes of “Mountain Men.” Other members of the show’s cast do have an internet presence, as they aim to use these channels to publicize while being true to themselves.
