During the second season of N.B.C.’s The Voice, Evans took part. He sang “What’s Going On” by Marvin Gaye at the blind audition televised on February 20, 2012.

Adam Levine, CeeLo Green, and Blake Shelton, the other three competitors, chose not to take part in the blind audition, leaving Christina Aguilera as the sole performer.

He was automatically matched in the Battles round with Team Aguilera competitor Jesse Campbell.

They both sang “If I Ain’t Got You,” a song by Alicia Keys, on an episode that aired on March 5. Aguilera opted to keep Campbell after a contentious musical debate.

Because the “steal option” for more judges hadn’t yet been included in the program, Evans was disqualified from the competition.
