However, his resurgence has captivated fans and supporters of Oregon’s two-time Wrestler of the Year. Travis, from Coos Bay, Oregon, was an All-American twice with the Cowboys, winning 79 games in Stillwater. Wittlake, who attended Marshfield High School, won four state championships and was a four-time All-American with a 196-2 record.
He started his second season with a perfect 14-0 record and completed with an overall record of 22-3, including a perfect 10-0 in duals. Furthermore, he defeated six ranked opponents en route to a third-place finish in the Big 12 tournament and a fourth-place finish at the NCAAs, capping up his second season as an All-American.

The wrestler got two leg injuries accidently, forcing him to lose time on the mat. Wittlake supposedly damaged his ankle while competing in the Junior National Duals last June.
Furthermore, during the match, a wrestling maneuver allowed Travis Wittlake, OSU’s 165-pounder, to feel the consequences of his left knee injury. He wrestled for a couple more matches before being hurt again in the Bucknell dual, causing him to miss the last regular-season dual.
For the third year in a row, he was unable to qualify for the NCAA event. He is now returning to tournaments, aware that he must still prove himself. Travis remembered the encounter as a one-of-a-kind occurrence, emphasizing that he had never been in such situation before.
“That one was difficult to watch,” he said. It was unusual not to have any pressure, just to be able to watch the tournament without any emotional attachment because you weren’t in it. As a result, it was something I had to cope with.”
Travis Returns to Oregon
Wittlake, an OSU two-time All-American, announced his transfer to Oregon State on Instagram in September 2023, with one year of eligibility remaining. Pat Mineo, a wrestling reporter, then validated the tale, reporting that Wittlake had entered the transfer portal. Many of his hometown fans were pleased when he returned to his old team. In addition, Travis expressed excitement about returning to Oregon in an interview.
He stated,
“I haven’t wrestled in Oregon for a long time.” “I’m overjoyed. “A large crowd has gathered to watch.”
After moving to Oregon, Wittlake reconnected with coach Chris Pendleton. Chris was an assistant coach at Oklahoma State before becoming the Beavers’ head coach. Wittlake, likewise, is now fighting in a weight class two levels higher than he has for the majority of his career.
Despite his illnesses, he worked hard during the summer to bulk up to 184 pounds. Furthermore, he made a comeback by wrestling Trey Munoz, presenting Wittlake with a difficult challenge to prove his place in his new weight class.
