The Johnny Depp and Amber Heard defamation trial is being held at the Fairfax County Courthouse from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday. On Thursday, April 28, the third week of the trial concluded, and the court will reconvene on Monday, May 2. It is anticipated that the experiment will last two to three weeks.
Heard is slated to testify on Monday and might be a “very potent weapon” in this case, per Deadline.
“It is difficult to imagine Amber not proving to be an extremely potent weapon in her own advocacy against Depp. She has been nothing but calm and restrained in court without uttering a word, regardless of how they have attempted to portray her.
Depp’s legal team has already presented the case in court, as is customary for plaintiffs in civil cases in the United States. They have not yet presented their conclusive reasons. In the meantime, Heard’s team will supposedly offer their defense in the coming weeks.
In addition to Depp and Heard, other A-list celebrities have been named as witnesses in the lawsuit, including James Franco, Paul Bettany, Jason Momoa, and Elon Musk. In the next few days, it is unknown if the celebrities would testify in person or via video recording.
Although their names appear on the witness list, none of the notable individuals have yet been in court. According to speculations, the trial for slander will conclude on May 19, 2022. It will be suspended for one week between May 9 and May 12 while Judge Penny Azcarate attends a conference.
Johnny Deep and Amber were tried in court
On Thursday, April 29, 2022, the third week of the Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard defamation trial concluded with testimony from ACLU Chief Operating Officer Terence Dougherty, Depp’s business manager Edward White, his bodyguard Malcolm Connolly, and driver Starling Jenkins.
The highly publicized trial began in Fairfax County, Virginia, on April 11, 2022, and is slated to last three weeks. Depp has already concluded his four-day deposition, during which he testified that he was the victim of domestic violence during his relationship with Heard.
In the meantime, Heard’s legal team claimed that Depp subjected their client to domestic violence. Each party has denied the other’s accusations. Several media publications report that Amber Heard’s testimony will likely be heard within the next week of the trial.
Unless a stunning discovery is made during Depp’s team’s closing arguments, the actress is scheduled to testify on Monday, May 2, 2022, when the trial begins.
The defamation trial commenced with Heard’s 2018 Washington Post opinion piece in which she portrayed herself as a victim of domestic violence.
Even though the article did not identify Depp, his team argued that it depicted him as the accused abuser and negatively affected his career. Depp sued Heard for $50 million in libel, initiating the defamation trial.
In the meantime, Heard countersued Depp for $100 million, alleging that he had repeatedly assaulted her during their relationship and one year of marriage. Depp has denied her allegations.
