He co-founded the Electronic Music Studios (London) Ltd., which brought to market the first commercially available portable synthesizer. He composed the music for the 1955 black comedy “The Ladykillers” starring Alec Guinness. He was a radar engineer for the Royal Navy during World War II. After the war, he opened one of the earliest electronic music studios.
