The Cowboys selected Aikman first overall in the 1989 NFL Draft. He was selected for six Pro Bowls and three Super Bowls while he was a player for them.

He also won MVP honors for Super Bowl XXVII, the group’s first victory in more than a decade.

Aikman was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 2008, respectively.

After retiring in 2000, Aikman worked as a color analyst for NFL on Fox from 2001 through 2021. He has done the same for Monday Night Football since 2022.

Aikman talked about how Donovan McNabb’s injury nearly forced him out of his satisfied retirement when appearing on the air on KESN-FM in Dallas.

He asserts that Andy Reid, the Eagles’ then-head coach, called him while a broadcast was in progress to make the job offer.

Aikman went on to add that Norv Turner, the San Diego Chargers’ head coach at the time, helped him think about the offer.

He ultimately chose to forgo being compelled to enter the field in below-freezing temperatures in favor of decent weather and personal safety.

He insisted that his decision had been successful on all fronts.

After 20 seasons as Fox’s primary broadcast team, Buck and Aikman were announced by ESPN to join the network as the new lead analysts of Monday Night Football on March 16, 2022.

When only 15,000 spectators were allowed into Raymond James Stadium for a 2020 NFL game between the Packers and Buccaneers in Tampa, Aikman and his partner Joe Buck were overheard discussing if a military flyover was necessary before the game.

Aikman also said, “That stuff ain’t happening with a Kamala-Biden ticket, I’ll tell you that right now, pal,” and “That’s a lot of jet fuel only to do a quick flyover.”

Later, a military spokeswoman said the flyovers were free of charge. Meanwhile, it was said that Buck and Aikman lacked patriotism.

Nevertheless, Aikman led the team to a Super Bowl victory when the Cowboys defeated the Buffalo Bills in 1992-1993, his first season without an injury.

Emmitt Smith, a running back, and Michael Irvin, a receiver, were both on the team. Aikman was named the game’s Most Valuable Player.

In 1994, the Cowboys faced the Bills in the Super Bowl to defend their title.

Texas Monthly once named country singer Lorrie Morgan the most eligible bachelor in Dallas, and Aikman dated her.

He married former Cowboys spokeswoman Rhonda Worthey on April 8, 2000, in Plano, Texas. Worthey’s daughter from a previous union is known as Rachel.

two of the daughters of Worthey and Aikman. Official separation between the pair occurred on January 24, 2011. Their divorce was finally completed on April 12, 2011.

On June 2, 2017, Aikman posted on Instagram that he was engaged to high-end clothes retailer Catherine “Capa” Mooty.

Mooty has two sons with her ex-husband, lawyer Jerry Mooty, who is also the owner of the Cowboys and the nephew of Jerry Jones.

On September 1, 2017, Aikman and Catherine Mooty got married at the Biltmore Four Seasons in Montecito, California.
