This season, the actress, who has been deaf since birth, has won various awards, including the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the BAFTA Awards, and the Critics’ Choice Awards.

In an effort to increase viewership for the 94th Academy Awards, the Academy awarded a few prizes off-air. Despite being the most prestigious awards ceremony in Hollywood, it continues to generate controversy every year.

Despite having over 10 million viewers, the 93rd Academy Awards received the lowest ratings in the program’s history.

Following his Oscar victory, Troy Kotsur makes an emotional tribute to his father.

After winning an Academy Award for his portrayal in the Apple TV+ drama CODA, the actor gave a moving acceptance speech in sign language, with presenter Youn Yuh-Jung standing next to him.

Troy Kotsur paid tribute to his father, who is also deaf but unable to sign as a result of an automobile accident. He declared:

“Dad, you taught me a great deal. I will always have affection for you. My idol is you. My father was the best singer in our family. He was paralyzed from the neck down after being engaged in a car accident.

The 53-year-old actor dedicated his Oscar for his portrayal of the fisherman Frank Rossi to the deaf community, saying:

“This is for the benefit of the deaf, CODA, and disabled communities. This is our opportunity!”

The celebrity expressed appreciation to Academy members for the award, stating:

“It is a privilege to participate in this trip. I still can’t believe I’m here. Thank you very much to the entire Academy for recognizing my efforts.”

The Oscar-winning actor hailed the film’s extraordinary reach and joked about teaching the White House sign language.

“I intended to instruct them in foul sign language, but [“CODA” co-star] Marlee Matlin warned me against it. Don’t worry, therefore, Marlee. Today I will not use any F-bombs in my speech.”

CODA is a moving story about a high school girl who lives with her deaf mother, father, and brother. Marlee Matlin, 56, who was the first member of the deaf community to be nominated for and win an Oscar in 1987 for her role in Children of a Lesser God, also stars in the film.
