With the recent release of her debut solo mini-album IM NAYEON, Naeyeon, the internationally renowned K-pop sensation TWICE, created a stir online.
As the first member of her band, the K-pop vocalist made her solo entrance. Her vibrant, energizing compact record has undoubtedly won over fans. With the title single, POP, which is a testament to the singer’s sweet vocals, Nayeon amply demonstrated her bubbly demeanor and girl crush charms.
Nayeon recently talked about how she learned about her solo launch in an interview with Vulture. She continued by saying that the anticipation for the group’s efforts added to the enthusiasm’s pressure. As stated by Nayeon:
“At first, it seemed bizarre. I also experienced some pressure. I was aware that many people had been looking forward to this because I had been working in a team for so long.
It was inevitable that TWICE members would start working on their solo albums after the band’s remarkable seven-year voyage. Her company, JYP Entertainment, believed it was only fair for her to start her solo endeavor since her groupmate Nayeon was the first to be selected for the lineup.
The title song POP was featured on the idol’s debut mini-album, which was published on June 24. Fans were blown away by Nayeon’s upbeat attitude, joyful melodies, and dynamic dancing throughout the entire song. The vocalist is accustomed to singing on stage with her bandmates, but she also excels on her own.
The group’s members had a full year of travel for their III World Tour, which took place from December 2021 to May 2022. Nayeon devoted herself to creating her solo record and organizing marketing, forgoing a well-earned vacation.
Recently, Nayeon revealed her new solo project and talked about her solo debut with Vulture. It seems that Nayeon’s solo debut caught her off guard, even though K-pop artists discuss their solo endeavors with their agencies. The performer said that JYP Entertainment’s announcement of TWICE’s yearly plan was the first time she had heard of it:
Although her solo record was unexpected, according to Nayeon, it was something she had been working on for a while. The performer claimed that when she made her solo debut, her fellow group members were incredibly happy and excited for her:
“When the other band members learned that I was going solo, they all applauded me as if it were the debut of a new Twice record. They were ecstatic for me and had a lot of confidence in me.
“I think the other members will have more opportunities to show off their skills as solo artists in the future.”
Since its debut in 2015, TWICE, a global K-pop phenomenon has wowed audiences with amazing shows and stunning ensembles. The nine-member female group gained notoriety for their unique talents and conceptions, which were accompanied by emotions of a girl crush.
