The death of Tyler Lawrence, a 13-year-old Norwood boy who was shot and died, is being searched for more frequently.
On January 29, just before noon, a crime occurred in the Fremont and Babson Streets crossroads neighborhood of Mattapan. Lawrence attended Coakley Middle School, according to Norwood Public Schools.
The prosecutor, Julie Higgins, mentioned a video that documented the teen’s dying moments. The teen’s relatives left the courtroom even though they were present before Higgins began to recount the incident. Lawrence was shot five times, including once in the head, according to Higgins.
On January 29, Tyler, a native of Norwood, was visiting his grandparents when he was shot multiple times while out for a stroll. Five shot casings were found by the police close to the teen’s body.

When Skerritt was arraigned on Friday, he was charged with murder, being an armed career criminal level III, and a number of charges involving ammunition and weapons.
Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden said during a news conference on Monday that 34-year-old Csean Skerritt is charged with first-degree murder and using weapons in connection with the boy’s death.
On Sunday, Skerritt was taken into custody and charged with breaching federal law by dispensing fentanyl. He was described as a gang member connected to the Morse Street gang in a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts.
There was no connection between Skerritt and the child, said Kevin Hayden. The investigators concluded that Lawrence was the target of a deliberate attack rather than a chance shooting.
After Skerritt arrived in federal court on Monday afternoon, Hayden said that Skerritt would be arraigned on the new murder and weapons counts “as soon as practically possible.”
Skerritt has an extensive criminal background that includes convictions for offenses involving assault, battery, and weapons. Skerritt was likewise exonerated of all charges relating to murder in 2017. He was charged with distributing fentanyl and made an appearance in federal court last week.
The cause of the murder is still being looked into. Remy Lawrence, Tyler’s mother, stated in a statement later that day that her family was “relieved and grateful” to see police and prosecutors start bringing Tyler to justice.

Case involving Tyler Lawrence’s Death: Csean Skerritt’s Criminal Record
Skerritt has a significant criminal history that spans more than 10 years; the Boston Globe was able to determine from court records that Skerritt was twice convicted of assault and violence on a member of the public team: once in Plymouth District Court in 2008 and once in Boston Municipal Court in 2011.
According to the Globe, Skerritt was sentenced to three years in state prison after admitting guilt to counts of possessing a weapon without a permit in Suffolk Superior Court that same year.
According to the newspaper, a Suffolk Superior Court jury found Skerritt not guilty of first-degree murder and gun possession in 2014 after he shot and killed Julien Printemps in Dorchester.
The guys were “affiliated with rival groups,” according to a 2015 news release from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
Earlier this month, Skerritt was charged with selling fentanyl and appeared in federal court before it was revealed that he would be charged with Tyler’s death.
