Uchenna Ikonne, who taught optometry, was born in Nigeria. In December 2015, he was named the 7th substantive vice chancellor of Abia State University. Having worked from 2014 to 2015 as the Rescue Mission’s Rector at Abia State Polytechnic in Aba.

Uche Ikonne is running for governor of Abia State for the People’s Democratic Party. Prof. Uchenna Ikonne will run for governor of Abia state for the PDP in the 2023 elections.

He finished a 4-year post-doctoral clinical specialist training program to become a Fellow of the Nigerian College of Optometrists with a focus on Primary Care Optometry.

Uche Ikonne Everyone has been shocked by the death. Prof. Uche Ikonne, who was running for the PDP in the state of Abia, has died. John Okiye Kalu, who is in charge of trade and business for the state, says:

“I’m sorry to tell you that my beloved father, Prof. Eleazar Uchenna Ikonne, died at the National Hospital in Abuja at 4 a.m. on January 25, 2023, after a short illness.

He was getting better after getting the right care in the United Kingdom, but he had a setback a few days ago that led to many heart arrests from which he never recovered.

People say that Prof. Ikonne has been sick for a long time and that no one has seen him in public since November 2022.

About Uche Ikonne’s Family

Ikonne was born in the village of Isiala Ngwa North, Nsulu, Agburuike, Abia State. After he graduated from high school in Aba, Abia State, he went to Manila Central University in the Philippines to study optometry.

He got his Ph.D. in environmental health science from Abia State University in the Philippines. He also got a specialized master’s degree in hospital management from St. Jude College in the Philippines. In 1985, he went back to Nigeria and worked as a private optometrist at Enugu’s Park Lane General Hospital.

From 2010 to 2014, Ikonne was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Abia State University. After that, she was the Rector at Abia State Polytechnic in Aba. He was named Abia State University’s seventh vice chancellor for good in December 2015.

While asking God to let the dead person rest in peace and give the family of the late Professor Uche Ikonne the strength to deal with the huge loss. Even so, the top Igbo group soothed the Ikonne family, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Abia State, the government, and the people of Abia state about the shocking death of this respected Igbo leader.
