Meet the season four Glow Up judges

The upcoming show’s judges are incredibly gifted in the MUA industry and have earned a solid reputation. Dominic Skinner is a Senior Global Artist for Mac Cosmetics, whilst Val Garland is the Global Makeup Director for L’Oréal Paris and a Contributing Beauty Editor for British Vogue.

1) Valerie Garland

63-year-old Val Garland is a London-based makeup artist. Before relocating to Sydney, Australia to pursue a career as a hair colorist, she was raised in Bristol.

Her scientific interest in color, hair, and cosmetics propelled her to the status of Australia’s preeminent artist. The Glow Up judge moved to London after a few years to work on high-profile Alexander McQueen catwalk shows, commercial celebrity photography with Kate Moss, and magazine partnerships with Vogue, Dazed & Confused, i-D, and Visionaire.

In 2004, Garland was named the Pantene Pro-V Makeup Artist of the Year, and in 2017, she became the first L’Oréal Paris Global Makeup Director. The makeup artist has developed an anthology promoting her work through a series of memorable photographs entitled Validated.

2) Dominic Skinner

Dominic, Senior Global Artist at MAC Cosmetics, has nearly two decades of experience in the cosmetic industry. His primary inspiration in the cosmetics industry was Daryl Hannah’s character Pris from Blade Runner, who had paint smeared over his eyes.

He encourages his consumers to continuously experiment with potent cosmetics. Dominic detailed his makeup inspiration on his official MAC website. He declared:

“Despite having moved frequently, I do not require a specific location for inspiration,” she says.

He further stated:

“I find that there are ideas all around me; it’s only a matter of discovering the ones that others may have missed.”

Over the years, Skinner has cooperated with various well-known business leaders. In addition, the Glow Up judge’s most memorable moment at MAC was assisting Alex Box on a magazine photoshoot directed by Alexander McQueen.
